You need to give the shampoo bars some time to rid your hair of the old residues from your commercial shampoo. As shampoo bar soaps do not strip hair in the same way as detergent based shampoos, you may notice your wet hair feeling different, after washing, than you may be accustomed to. This is perfectly normal; you’ll love how your hair feels after it dries. For best results wet hair and rub the bar on your hair until it lathers. Work the lather thoroughly onto the scalp with fingers. Rinse and repeat if necessary.

My Experience:

It has been 13 years since I switched to natural skincare. I am done experiencing enough with the worstest fakes, mediocres, good, better & the best ones of Natural skincare in the Indian market. Right now, I have reached a point where I can judge and review a product with upto 95% accuracy.

Satliva is a unique natural brand whose entire range is formulated with Hemp as the main ingredient. It is one of the very few brands that checked all the right boxes in the recent times in terms of quality, efficiency, ingredients, eco consciousness & ethics. They claim that their entire range is 100% synthetic/chemical free and it seems believable. Hence, Satliva is definitely a worthy find.

Read on to know my take on their Hemp & Argan shampoo bar infused with rosemary extracts.

Packaging: It comes in a luxurious box made of thick paperboard which is sturdy enough for reuse. Inside is the product, wrapped in cover made of butter paper(no plastic). The materials chosen & the classy design with a traditional touch spoke volumes about the brand👏.

Texture: It is delicate yet reasonably thick bar with uneven cuts that looks raw & pure like a piece of quartz crystal.

Color & Fragrance: Both are from ingredients. It is a cream coloured bar with a strong exhilarating herbal fragrance of rosemary & tea tree oil that is so refreshing, relieving, healing and therapeutic.

Ingredients Analysis: The three title ingredients namely Hemp, Argan & Rosemary alone can be good enough reason to choose this shampoo bar, according to me, because these three are wonder herbs when it comes to hair care. The basic ingredient of Satliva’s entire range namely, Hemp Seed oil contains many fatty acids, proteins, vitamins, 21 amino acids including 9 essential amino acids and other nutrients that are beneficial and essential to the wellness of the body, especially for skin, hair and scalp. Argan Oil, often referred to as ‘liquid gold’ has been the secret to great hair for many generations. Argan oil helps mend split ends and tame frizzy hair. It is non-greasy, prevents damage from heat and keeps hair shiny. Rosemary essential oil soothe scalp irritations. It also has invigorating Tea Tree essential oil leaves hair clean, shiny and refreshed, castor, palm & coconut oil. This is a hot processed soap where Aqua & Lye are involved but blended until it is completely evaporated & made sure the final product is free of the same using Jap test. The soap is preservative free & it has a shelf life of 3 months. It has no added colors & fragrances.

Efficiency: This is my first ever shampoo bar. I was under the impression that shampoo bars are always drying, make hair sticky & loose it’s lustre. When this was sent, I was frankly scared to use it on my hair but when I gave it a shot, I was thoroughly impressed with the first use itself. With consistent use I even started feeling that it’s much better than most of the liquid shampoos I have used till date. While cleaning an oiled scalp I use the soap directly and when cleaning plain hair, I use my hands to create lather from the soap and use the foam on wet hair. It lathers decently like a handmade synthetic free soap. In both cases, this gloriously smelling bar cleans really well. If used directly on hair everytime it will last only for 10 uses, otherwise It should last for 15-20 uses, depending on water.  It is a gentle bar that is neither drying nor makes scalp parched, hair sticky or lose it lustre. Instead it gives the basic hydration & imparts a subtle shine even without following up with a conditioner. It keeps frizz at bay & makes hair better manageable.

Natural products take time to show results as they work steadily & progressively to fix the root cause rather than symptoms, unlike chemicals that instantly penetrate and give overnight results that don’t last long along with harsh side effects. In this one plus month of usage, this has reduced scalp itching & made scalp supple, hence seems promising on the dandruff reduction & hairfall claims.

Though this shampoo bar is self sufficient, it caters only to basic needs as mentioned above. For extra nourishment, pampering, hydration, conditioning, hairfall reduction and to achieve a fulfilled result, following up with Satliva’s rosemary hair cream is recommended. Read the full review of Satliva rosemary hair cream here. There are also variants meant for oily hair type. Hardly one or two products have given such satisfactory results in the past.

  • 100% synthetic/chemical free
  • Therapeutic fragrance
  • value for money
  • cleans well
  • non drying & reduces frizz
  • keeps scalp supple
  • ecofriendly packaging
  • powerful ingredients
  • hair type specific variants

  • none

My Verdict: Satliva shampoo bar & hair cream are the only two things I will need for my external haircare. I did not require a hairoil, other masks(satliva cream is a mask & cream) or serums, pre or post this routine and my hair feels healthy & behaves full of life!
