Product Review- Soapworksindia Sunscreen Lotion bar with SPF 60

Brand Claims:

Ingredients list: beeswax, Shea butter, cocoa butter, coconut oil, zinc oxide, raspberry seed oil, frankincense oil.

Description: At Soapworks we make the natural sunscreen lotion bars has some amazing ingredients that are considered uniquely beneficial for nourishing and which also has some natural sun protection properties in them too.

Coconut Oil – According to many research, coconut oil has a natural SPF of around 8.

Shea Butter – This decadent moisturizer contains cinnamic acid, which absorbs UVB rays. It is generally found to have an SPF of around 6

Beeswax – Though it’s main purpose in this bar is to hold everything together, it is considered by some skin care companies to have antioxidant and moisturizing properties. Also beeswax coats your skin with a layer on top of your skin to stop the harmful rays that could penetrate into your skin.

Zinc Oxide – Unlike chemical sunscreens which absorb rays, zinc oxide provides a physical barrier between us and the sun. These minerals are considered non-toxic in their natural forms, and it was assumed the mini-sized versions would be equally safe.

Carrot seed oil has a natural SPF of 40.

Raspberry seed oil has a natural SPF of 30.

Avocado oil has an SPF of 15

Directions: Using a lotion bar is easy; those who want to moisturize their bodies simply twist the bottom of the bar stick and the lotion bar comes up. Rub the lotion bar onto the skin and the heat emanating from the lotion bar will melt a small portion of the bar. From there, users can rub the lotion onto the body part that needs moisturizing.

My Experience:

Soapworksindia is a natural handmade brand. I have been using their soaps for the past 3 years. Since a good sunscreen with a higher spf in the natural category is rare, I tried their sunscreen lotion bar spf 60. Read on to know my take ….

Packaging: It comes in a stick form with a twist up mechanism. The material is sturdy plastic. It is compact, easy to use & travel friendly.

Texture: It has a solid texture that melts when it comes in contact with the body heat. The 75 grams should last for ~2 months when used on exposed areas.

Fragrance & Color: It has a very pleasant fruity fragrance like that of a dessert😋. The color is plain off-white.

Ingredients analysis:  The Sun protection is from zinc oxide, a naturally occurring mineral & some natural ingredients that are said to have sun protection properties Shea butter(spf 6), coconut oil, raspberry seed oil, carrot seed oil & avocado oil. I doubt if the full ingredients including preservatives, etc are listed on the label as the shelf life is claimed to be 1 year.

Efficiency: This is easy to use. I roll it up and apply directly on my skin. Leave a few patches and later spread with my hands. It blends well and doesn’t leave a white cast. It is highly nourishing, moisturising and even makes the skin soft & supple with prolonged use. This Will suit dry skin better. The protection is good and It prevents tan which was evident. The only con is, it is too sticky and hence very uncomfortable to wear.

  • rich ingredients
  • higher spf
  • travel friendly, easy to use packaging
  • pleasant fragrance

  • too sticky to wear

My Verdict: If the only con which is the stickiness is fixed, this would be one of the best sunscreens in the market!
