My Experience:

I have tried many products from Kama Ayurveda . I liked their oils, ubtans & soaps but not a fan of their creams & cleansers. I got 2 samples of their sunscreen during my recent purchase, read on to know my take of the same…

Packaging: I love the traditional yet trendy designs of Kama’s labels n color choices. It comes in a plastic tube with a flip cap. Usage wise, this is an ideal choice for creams and lotions because it is hygiene and at the same time, there is no wastage like in pump dispensers towards the end. Also, it is travel friendly.

Texture: It is thick and creamy. Spreads well but More quantity is required per use and this 60ml should last for a month.

Fragrance & Color: It is a pale offwhite cream. It has a strong herbal fragrance like that of oils. This is an added fragrance.

Ingredients Analysis: The UV filters are Zinc oxide & Titanium dioxide, both naturally occurring minerals & non nano. Full ingredients are listed on the label. The ingredients chosen are effective ones & safe except for just one which is the parfum or added fragrance that is said to be moderately toxic.

Efficiency: This is 99.3% natural. Gives a broad spectrum & PA++ protection. The cream is thick but spreads well with some effort and doesn’t leave a white cast.  It gives a good coverage and staysput for say 2 hours after which U have to reapply because the SPF is 21. This is an inconvenience for me but I appreciate the fact that without adding harmful chemical filters and increasing the spf rating, safer ingredients were given priority. This is non comedogenic and hence doesn’t block pores but it tends to aggrevate my active acne that starts itching lightly when I apply this. This may be due to parfum which is a potential skin irritant (cos I’m not allergic to any other ingredient listed & have history of using many products with those ingredients). So, sensitive and acne prone skin types, am not sure if this will be suitable. Otherwise, this is a promising product in this category.

Pros:

  • Easy to use, hygienic, travel friendly packaging.
  • full ingredients listed
  • no white cast

Cons:

  • added fragrance
  • frequent reapplication required
  • expensive

My Verdict: Seems like a good sunscreen with impressive ingredients but the effect on my active acne is bothering.
